How Many Moving Boxes Do You Need?

One of the most common questions we get from Ottawa movers is how many moving boxes to order. The right number depends on your home size, but here's a rough guide based on our reusable moving boxes:

Because our moving boxes are larger and sturdier than standard cardboard, most Ottawa customers order slightly fewer of ours than they would cardboard boxes for the same size home. Rent by the Week, Not the Move

Unlike buying a stack of cardboard boxes you'll use once, our moving boxes are rented by the week. That means if your move drags on, or your closing date shifts, you're never stuck scrambling for more supplies — you simply extend the rental. How much does it cost to rent moving boxes in Ottawa?

Our reusable moving boxes rent for $3 per box for the first week, and $1.50 per box for each additional week, plus HST. Add a hand truck for $25/week, packing paper for $10/pack, and labelling tape for $3/roll. Build a full estimate on our quote page.

Is delivery available, or do I have to pick up the moving boxes myself?

Both options are available. Self pick-up from our Bridlewood location is always free. If you'd rather we bring the moving boxes to you, delivery and pick-up is $50 + HST for addresses within 30 km of Ottawa, including Kanata, Barrhaven, Bells Corners, and Stittsville. Beyond 30 km, we'll put together a custom quote.

How many moving boxes will I need for my move?

Are reusable moving boxes better than cardboard boxes?

Do I need a deposit to rent moving boxes?

No cash deposit is required. We simply confirm your order and rental period, and your final invoice is confirmed at the time of booking. We do hold a credit card number on file for the length of your rental, which is only charged in the event of excessive damage or non-return of moving boxes or add-ons.

What areas of Ottawa do you serve?

We serve all of Ottawa, with dedicated delivery routes to Kanata, Barrhaven, Bells Corners, and Stittsville. If you're outside these areas, request a quote and we'll confirm delivery availability.
